Overview

The History & Data Analytics team conducted translation of various contents from the museum, including the museum survey and exhibition captions in order to help foreign visitors understand the purpose and the displayed artifacts in the museum. The team also recorded the translated exhibition captions that are to be embedded in the museum mobile application to provide virtual docent tours to foreign visitors.

Overall, the translation and recordings done by the team would aid foreign visitors get a better gist of what the Museum of Japanese Colonial History in Korea displays and the message conveyed by the museum in both online and offline environments.

Museum Survey Translation

The surveys in the museum are used to gather information on the general satisfaction level of the foreign visitors, and their perspective on colonial history. The collected responses will be utilized to enhance visitor experience, and collect data for future academic needs.

The survey that the team translated includes surveys for the special exhibitions and the survey for the permanent exhibition in the museum.

Exhibition Caption Translation

The team also conducted caption translation for the permanent exhibition and the artifacts within the exhibition in order to help foreign visitors understand the exhibitions better and get a grasp of what the artifacts and the exhibition is about.

Virtual Tour Audio Recording

After translating the exhibition details into English, the History & Data Analytics team recorded the translated text in order to provide a virtual audio tour to foreign visitors. The recorded audio will be embedded into the museum’s mobile application as a virtual audio tour guide that visitors can use while looking around the exhibitions.

There are a total of 4 sections within the permanent exhibition, each of the sections containing 4 subsections. The audio guide provides virtual docent tours for each of the 16 subsections of the exhibition.
